Safety-critical dosing stays with the pool controller.

Home Assistant is used for visibility, alerts, reporting and smart-home integration — not as a simple relay-based chemical dosing brain.

1. Professional Controller

A dedicated pH/ORP or free-chlorine controller measures water quality and controls peristaltic dosing pumps according to its own safety logic.

2. Dosing Pumps

Small chemical pumps draw from pool-room tanks such as liquid chlorine, pH reducer and optional auxiliary chemicals.

3. Home Assistant Layer

Values and alarm states are integrated through Modbus, API, Vistapool-compatible platforms, dry contacts or custom interfaces where available.

What we look for in a pool automation device.

For professional villa pools, we prefer equipment that can operate independently while still exposing data to Home Assistant.

pH + ORP / free chlorine probes
Reliable measurement with calibration support.
Two or more dosing pumps
Typically pH and chlorine, with a third pump for flocculant or auxiliary chemicals when needed.
Communication interface
Modbus TCP/RTU, API, cloud integration, Vistapool-compatible systems or relay alarm outputs.
Important safety principle:
We do not recommend controlling chlorine or acid dosing directly with generic smart relays. Chemical dosing should be limited and protected by a dedicated pool controller, flow detection and correct hydraulic installation.
